In 1986, three familiar faces from the Chicago House scene made their way to Reid Hyams’ Chicago Trax Recording Studio to begin work on a new project. This included Matt Warren and Nick H who joined forces with Miguel Garcia a.k.a. Michaelangelo, and became Modern Mechanical Music.
The newly named Modern Mechanical Music recorded Persia (Club Mix) and Persia (Dub) but needed a B-Side. Both songs were written arranged, mixed and produced by Matt and Michaelangelo. With the two songs completed, Modern Mechanical Music began work on the B-Side.
This was Doo Doo Daa (Bonus Beats) which was penned by Mat Warren, Tom O’Callaghan and Michaelangelo. Just like the other two tracks, they were arranged, mixed and produced by Matt and Michaelangelo. When the single was completed, it became the latest release on Sunset Records.
Modern Mechanical Music’s released Persia as their debut single on Sunset Records in 1986. While most people focused on the two mixes of Persia, the B-Side Doo Doo Daa (Bonus Beats) is an oft-overlooked track from three miliar faces from the Chicago House scene.
