For the fourth release on AKA Dance Music, Matt Warren decided to record a cover of Nick H’s Take It To The Wall at Off World Studios. That was where some familiar faces from the Chicago House scene joined forces with Matt Warren.
This included engineer Dane Roewade who had worked on many of Matt’s productions and would edit Take It To The Wall. He was joined by Matt, Kevin Halstead and Nick H who had dawned his White Knight moniker. Each of the three friends mixed Take It To The Wall which was co-produced by Matt and White Knight. By the end of the session, the three new tracks completed, including Take It To The Wall (Nick’s Mix), Take It To The Wall (Kevin’s Mix) and Take It To The Wall (Matt’s Mix) which featured on the B-Side.
After mastering at Trutone Mastering Labs, AKA-4 was ready to release later in 1987. On it release, Take It To The Wall showed the changing face of Chicago House as Take It To The Wall (Nick’s Mix) shows.
