By 1985, Miguel Garcia was one of the owners of Sunset Records and a familiar face in the city’s house scene. He had just written You Can Do It, which he prepared to record using a new moniker… Michaelangelo.
It was wasn’t possible for Miguel Garcia to record, produce and mix You Can Do It, so he had decided to bring some of his friends onboard. This included the Sunset Records crew. Ralphi Rosario would join forces with Miguel Garcia to add backing vocals and Matt “The Mighty” Warren would add a rap and was one of two executive producers. The other was Alex Rojo.
Apart from the Sunset Records crew, Tammy Thomas took charge of the lead vocals during the recording of You Can Do It. It was arranged by Dane Roewade and Miguel Garcia who took charge of production. Miguel Garcia and Matt Warren mixed You Can Do It, You Can Do It (You Can Dub It), You Can Do It (Bonus Do It’s) and You Can Do It (You Can Accapella) which were released later in 1985.
You Can Do It was the latest release on the nascent Sunset Records, and featured You Can Do It (Bonus Do It’s) which shows another side to Michaelangelo’s debut single.
